Built in 1965 by Carlyle Construction Corporation, this white brick, white glove 35-story rental building, known as Regency Towers, holds 529 rental apartments.
On the ground floor of the building is a landscaped garden surrounded by the buildings setbacks. Most of the apartments in the building face this garden or they face Second Avenue and have terraces.
Building amenities include: a concierge, a doorman, a garage, and a gym. The area offers many boutiques and restaurants and the convenience of midtown east only a couple blocks away. Hot & Crusty is located on the ground floor of this building, off Second Avenue.
Since the building was built, the Upper East Side neighborhood has changed significantly. There have been a plethora of similar luxury buildings rising around the neighborhood. Right off third avenue, is Regency Tower’s sister building Carlton Towers.
The downfall of this building is the heavy traffic on Second Avenue that leads to the Queensborough Bridge on 59th street. However, many of the buildings windows are meant to soundproof this noise. To make up for this, 245 East 63rd Street has recently renovated their apartments (as shown in the images below), and provides large apartment sizes at competitive prices.
